MEET THE TEAM - Krystal Savage
PACIFIC RUNWAY is this month! A huge landmark fashion event that has become THE event on the social calendar for our community and a must see for all Australian fashion connoisseurs, it is truly a spectacle to behold, a fantastic celebration of Pacific creativity and magic ...but it isn't put together by magic... it takes a dedicated and diligent TEAM, under the gentle and strong leadership of Founder Jannike Seiuli. MEET THE TEAM!
"My name is Krystal Savage and I am a full-time mum of 2 girls aged 6 and 4 but that's not a job, that's a blessing. I am also studying nursing."
2. Your role at Pacific Runway and how long have you been doing it? "My role or my title is a shared role between 3 other amazing women. We've come to label ourselves as the "Boss Mamas" and our roles are to ensure back of house runs as smoothly as possible we make sure Jannike is able to watch and enjoy the show to see her full vision come together. We each have our own roles. But they all intertwine to make one cohesive group. For that I'm grateful to work along side those beautiful and strong women." 3. How did you start at PacRun? "Jannike and I have been friends for quite some time -we went from being work colleagues to friends- before I volunteered to join the PR Team a few years back and have loved every minute of it. I've had the opportunity to see Pacific Runway change and evolve to the platform it has reached today. Which makes all the future shows that much more exciting." Over the 10 years I have known Jannike, I've been able to be a part of numerous shows Jannike has put together. Pacific empowerment is something Jannike resonates with and includes in her visions to be able to hold an event but also send out a powerful message." 4. What makes Pacific Runway special? "Pacific Runway is a way for the Pacific community to showcase their talents from many of the various roles we have from photographers, videographers, models, designers, hairstylists, make up artists and those who help coordinate the show. To see such diversity come together to share their work is so rewarding and inspiring. It also creates a learning experience for everyone to learn more about other cultures." 4. What makes Pacific origin designers special? Pacific origin designers have something special to showcase, by incorporating their heritage and culture into their work and adding their own little flare. We get to see a mixture of tradition and modern art come together. Pacific Runway is a way from designers whether they are established or up and coming to share their work and use this opportunity as a stepping stone into the Australian Fashion Industry." ***** 5. What makes you good at what you do? "Among the "Boss Mamas" I am the quieter of us all, but show day I'm a new woman lol I love getting among the action and being hands on when it comes to Pacific Runway. I love the challenges that come along with show day, the face paced work environment is something I enjoy." 6. What is the most exciting thing about organizing an event like PacRun? "Seeing everything come together from Day 1 all the way to show day. There is always something to be done but we get to see the inner workings of the show. It's like putting all the pieces jigsaw puzzle together. Although we miss the final product, just hearing the positive feedback its definitely rewarding." 7. What is the hardest thing? "The end of Show Day. Knowing Pacific Runway is over for the year and possibly having to say goodbye to some great people you've met. But it's also means the start of a new vision." *** 8. What does fashion mean to you? "Fashion is way of art and expression, we each have our own unique identity and the same goes with our fashion." 9. Do you have a signature outfit? "I've never thought too much about this lol But I own a few too many jumpsuits/playsuits. You can never own too many." 10. What colour best describes you?! "*GREEN* - I've always described myself as a down to earth girl. Level headed." 11. What are your hobbies? "I love reading, food for the mind. I like to go on an adventure even though I'm standing still." 12. If you could only eat one thing/cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be? "It would have to be Korean food. You can not go past a good spicy dish." 13. What is your dream destination? Favourite country. "Dream destination would be San Torini. Its always been at the top of my list. Favourite country would have to be New Zealand." ***** 14. Who are your favourite Pacific designers and why? "That's a tough one. But my most memorable one would have to be WaeveRDream. I am a Maori and seeing such beautiful pieces makes me even more proud to be a Maori." 15. What about PacRun makes you most proud? "I'm most proud of the what the show stands for, what it has to offer anyone who has been a part of the show. Whether you're in the audience or partaking in the show, empowerment and inspriation are overflowing."
